How should a 5 year old deal with being picked on by neighborhood kids?

My daughter plays with an 8 year old who constantly picks on her. This girl’s 10 year old brother also picks on my daughter. The 8 year old turns the younger neighborhood kids against my daughter if she refuses to play with her. I tried talking to the parents, but they won’t listen to me. I either keep my daughter in the house or watch her play outside alone. The other kids won’t play with her unless the 8 year old girl says they can. What can I do to help my daughter deal with this kind of behavior?

Those are some rotten kids. She shouldn’t be around them. She is better than that and I am sure you want her to know that. It stinks that she can’t play with kids around the neighborhood but I am sure she can find some other kids that could come over sometime. Maybe some school kids or some children from church. Do any of your friends have kids around the same age? I wouldn’t allow the 8 or 10 year old any where near my child.
