How much money do Sony lose on the manufacturing of every PS3?
I’ve heard that Sony lose money on every PS3 they make, just wondering how much they lose?
The manufacturing cost has dropped drastically since release. The information in the link posted above is quite old.
Sony’s manufacturing costs for the PS3 had dropped by half around the beginning of this year, meaning it would cost just over $400 per console.
They’ve also introduced more efficient and cheaper to produce 65nm RSX and Cells. This further reduces the cost of producing the console.
Right now, at $400 each, they are more than likely making at least a little money on each console sold. At worst, they are coming out even right now.
